Mission of Agape Sanctuary: Agape Sanctuary, a non-profit organization founded in 2000 by Lisa Venable, seeks to heighten awareness of universal love and teach principles that increase the ability to love, not just know it’s a good thing to do! As people learn to live in love, behavior changes which results in peaceful, harmonious relationships in families, communities, and the world. Love is the most powerful force available and the only real solution we have for true and lasting peace.
The essence of living in Agape Love requires:
- Self love and acceptance
- Accepting what’s true for others without judgment
- Going beyond right, wrong, good and bad to the field of Love
- Understanding and compassion for all people
- Being able to live from the heart instead of the ego
- Going beyond “me” society to “we” society
Dear Friends of Love,
What the world needs now is love, the only thing that can truly create peace. As a spiritual healer, minister and activist, I am deeply committed to transforming humanity to its highest potential and believe returning to love is the ultimate answer. We talk about love, but are we truly embodying it?
Martin Luther King’s message was one of agape love, the love that creates community among people, where we step out of judgment and into compassion as well as allowing all opinions, all needs and all ideas. Love is the way to peace but seldom do we use it because we are so conditioned to judgment.
Real Love has no judgment of right or wrong, good or bad. Love sees the gift in every person and every situation. Love knows no “shoulds” and gives no shame. Love is key to healing mind, body and emotions. If we follow Love’s flow, we will know peace like we’ve never imagined. I dream of this kind of Love being taught in schools, workplaces and government.
The Agape Sanctuary began in Minneapolis as a local spiritual community for meditation a nd deepening the spirit of Love. We now seek to expand Agape’s mission to educate the larger community on how to live from the energy of Love. To follow the voice of love over the voice of fear and judgment. To truly transform our society, we need to instill positive, love based thoughts and feelings in ourselves and our young people.
We will show people how to love the earth so that we nurture Her instead of use Her up. We will teach children how to seek understanding instead of hate. We will facilitate dialogues among politicians so they can see beyond conservative and liberal ideology and create solutions that actually work.
